  1. This could be the worst movie ever made.

Bold start I know, and clearly there are enough positive elements such as John Williams' beautiful score and the great 3D FX to prevent this, but given the level of expectation and the distance between that and what George Lucas delivered makes it a challenger for stinker of the century.

The benefit of Movie club seeing a movie that we all know and have had 13 retrospective years means for me there were no surprises but just compounded existing opinions.

A shocking script, multiple wooden performances, annoying characters and a blatant disregard for the fact that Star Wars fans had aged since the originals all means this film falls way short on every level. The whole 'Anniken Pod race' arc could easily be cut and by aging him to his teen years from the off would allow us to relate with him a bit more (as much as we can relate to an enslaved alien jedi).

I enjoyed being in the IMAX but the post production 3D at times felt non-existent.

George Lucas should be forced to remake this film!

  2. I fell asleep during the climactic scenes. To be able to do that during a 3D Imax viewinig with Dolby 259.7 sound, light saber battles, explosions and rousing music, says it all. The film would have been 10x better if they'd copied The Artist and just had music and sound FX and cut out all the dialogue. The worst script ever. How did it get made? Amazing visuals and music though, worth seeing just for that.
